Upcoming Race: Daytona

I wonder how many times this season I will end up having the “rain, rain, go away” song playing through my head at the conclusion of a race? Sometimes I wonder what a Cup race would be like in the rain with the wipers on the cars…But then I get to thinking about it and I don’t really think it would make for too good of racing. I think NASCAR does a pretty good job now with the way they handle the rain delays - calling the race if we’ve completed half of it. This adds another aspect to strategy and makes my job just a little bit more challenging, but we know what we have to do in preparation for it…sometimes it works out, other times not so much.

On another note we still had a decent finish at Loudon all things considered, the mishap with the loose wheel kind of set us back, so we’re kind of lucky to have finished where we did without losing ground in the point standings.

Now on to Daytona, a place where we haven’t placed too well in the past, with an average finish at 21st. In July of 2008 we had out best finish out of nine races there, second place. There are two important keys to being successful at Daytona: having a good car – which we know we will and not wrecking. I think if we can get through the race with out wrecking we have a very good chance of finishing well.

At this point in the season, it’s all about finishing a race and finishing well. I know we can do that. We just have to play it smart.

Tune into TNT Saturday night and until next time - take care,

Bob
