In 1996 Kuettel accepted the position of shock specialist at Butch Mock. He maintained this position for nearly three years.

Finally in December of 1998 Kuettel joined Roush as the car chief for the No. 99 Roush Racing Ford Taurus. Kuettel’s responsibilities included preparation of all of the No. 99 race cars. When at the track, Kuettel worked hand-in-hand with the crew chief making adjustments to the car to improve performance.

He remained the car chief for the No. 99 team until the end of 2005 at which time he was promoted to his current position as crew chief for the No. 60 Roush Racing Ford Fusion Busch Series team.

Kuettel had an excellent run during his Rookie season. His leadership and direction helped Edwards move up one spot from 2005 to finish second in the overall Busch Series standings. Kuettel and the No. 60 team ended the 2006 season with a phenomenal record that included three poles, four wins, 15 top-fives 25 top-10s.
